Description & Details

In VERTIGO, the nose bridge takes flight, arching from brow to brow and leaving a gap between the eyes. It holds a floating tension, like the moment before sleep when gravity slips and the body begins to fall. Like Dalí’s melting clocks, its oversized lenses droop gently on the face. A nod to Dalí’s key-dreaming ritual, VERTIGO lives in the liminal space between waking and dream.

In this particular piece, the entire design was accidentally mirrored, the lenses enlarged, and the frame made more slender than intended. But instead of starting over, it was finished as is, to avoid waste and honor the material. The left temple flows with one determined twist, while the right winds wild, like a restless river ready to break a new path. A mistake can be a gift.

About IRREGALIA

Irregalia designs are rooted in individuality, contrasts such as the harmonious dance between feminine and masculine, and the quiet poetry of imperfection in all things. Inspired by fine art, surrealism, and the natural asymmetry of the human face, each frame is a sculptural expression of identity. Irregularity isn’t a flaw; it’s a signature of nature.

All current Irregalia pieces are handcrafted in Finland by designer Aarne Lehti. Frames are made using deadstock, high-quality Italian cellulose acetate, salvaged locally from a retiring eyewear maker. This not only gives new life to rare materials, and ensures that no two frames are ever exactly alike. Once a colorway runs out, it’s gone for good, making every piece inherently limited.

Our process is eco-conscious and ethical, grounded in sustainable practices, thoughtful design, and craftsmanship that honors both material and wearer.

Irregalia isn’t just eyewear. It’s art for your eyes.

Care Instructions

Irregalia frames are handcrafted from eco-conscious, high-quality bio acetate, which more durable and flexible than conventional plastic, yet sensitive to heat and environmental changes. Proper care will keep your frames beautiful and functional for years to come.

Fit & Adjustment

Temples can be adjusted for a custom fit. Visit our Kallio studio in Helsinki for fittings (contact us post-purchase to book), or visit a local optician.

For minor adjustments at home:

  • Warm temples gently with a blow dryer until flexible.
  • Carefully bend to shape, then cool immediately in cold water to set.
  • Always adjust gently or consult a professional.

Handling & Storage

•Avoid prolonged exposure to heat (e.g., dashboard sunlight) or freezing temperatures to prevent warping or brittleness.

•Never place frames on your head, as this stretches temples.

•Store frames in a hard case, never loosely in bags or pockets.

•Avoid sitting on or applying pressure to frames.

•Keep in a dry, temperature-stable environment.

Cleaning

•Use a soft microfiber cloth for lens cleaning.

•For deeper cleaning, wash with lukewarm water and mild, non-abrasive soap. Avoid alcohol, solvent, or ammonia-based cleaners.

•Don’t spray hairspray or perfume near frames.

•Dry gently with a clean, soft cloth.

•Avoid wiping lenses with clothing or paper towels to prevent scratches.

Hinges

Hinges may loosen over time. Tighten them with a proper optical screwdriver; a keychain screwdriver comes included with your glasses.

Water & Chemicals

Avoid prolonged exposure to salt water, chlorinated pools, or harsh chemicals, which can damage coatings and metal parts.

Surface Care

Always place eyewear with lenses facing up and keep away from abrasive surfaces to prevent micro-scratches.

Reminder

Irregalia frames are wearable art, designed for careful use rather than rugged everyday wear. Treat them well, and they will reward you with lasting beauty and character.
